Principal's Message

April Message

April 15, 2020

Dear Alternative Education Families:

I hope you are well during this interesting time. Within Alternative Education students are still expected to be accountable for their learning and credit completion. All staff members have been reaching out to you and your student via email, phone and virtual classrooms. It is highly important that students connect with their classroom teachers to assist in fulfilling their course requirements during the school closure. Every day counts for our students, especially our senior class that are hoping to receive their high school diplomas in June.  At this time, it is uncertain when a ceremony can take place, however we plan to recognize our graduates for their hard work and accomplishments.

With the third quarter having just ended, a letter will be sent of your student’s progress towards meeting graduation requirements. You will be receiving this update by mail as early as next week, along with the credit benchmarks. The credit benchmarks are also on this communication.

For our underclassmen, if he/she wishes to return to Redondo Union High School (RUHS) in Fall of 2020 to complete his/her sophomore, junior or senior year, he/she must be on track with credit benchmarks (including all core courses) by June 2020.

There is one quarter left of school this year.  All students are encouraged to: 1) check his/her RBUSD email daily; 2) connect with his/her classroom teachers; 3) complete and submit all assigned work.  If you or your student needs clarification or instructional guidance please do not hesitate to contact our staff.  Their emails can be found on our website https://pdhs.rbusd.org/.  We are in this together, thank you for supporting your student towards academic success.

Be well,

Anthony Bridi

In addition to credit requirements, your attendance and behavior are also a consideration for returning to RUHS. Meeting must be held prior to end of the end of the semester/school year with Alternative Education Principal to discuss if expectations and qualifications have been met.

***For PDHS Students:

Students who are 0-30 credits behind benchmarks will have 4 periods at PDHS. Students who are 30+ credits behind benchmarks will have 5 periods at PDHS.

Note: These benchmarks are only a guideline. If you are ahead of the expected benchmarks, you are still required to complete a minimum of 2 contracts per week per class. If you enter PDHS below the suggested benchmarks, it means you will need to complete more than the 2 contracts per week per class to get on track.
